Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu is central to the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava tradition of Bengal. Devotees revere his teachings on loving devotion to Krishna and the communal chanting of the divine names.
Saṅkīrtana may take place in temples, homes or public spaces. One person often leads and the group responds, creating a shared experience.
ISKCON’s founding purposes explicitly include encouraging saṅkīrtana following Caitanya’s teachings. No musical training or prior membership is necessary to listen or join in.
